D-Group

Discipleship

A Discipleship group is a small group of people committed to getting real about life and helping one another grow in love for God. Acts 2:46 – 47: Jesus meant for us to be in a community of safety, to be able to praise him and bring our sincere hearts to the group. A Discipleship Group gives the members an opportunity to encourage each other in truth, love and grow in spiritual maturity.

We get together each week to study the bible, learn great tools to get deeper into the Word and closer to God, memorize verses, have open and honest conversations about the bible, and support, encourage and pray for each other? We will meet for 1 ½-2 hours each week for 9 months with time taken off during holidays.

Is this for you??

F.A.I.T.H. acronym describes the kind of person that will be successful in a D-group. Here is what it stands for:

Faithful

You are already showing faithfulness and consistency in your relationship with the Lord. A faithful person doesn’t necessarily know what the Christian life is all about, but they know they are all about the Christian life.

Available

Do you have margin in your schedule to commit! It is really important that you look at your schedule and other commitments and make a prayerful decision if you can make this group a high priority. If you are involved in several groups, this probably is not a good choice for you right now. If your schedule just won’t allow it this coming year, that’s okay!

Intentional

Intentional people know that being formed into the image of Christ does not happen by accident! We’re looking for women that see the purpose of a D-Group and want to participate so you can intentionally work on your spiritual growth.

Teachable

A teachable spirit! You won’t learn anything until you admit you don’t know everything. It is important to be a person that is willing to take critique, ask good questions and listen before you speak. There will be different levels of knowledge in the group, but hopefully everyone is willing to learn.

Hungry

Ask yourself, “Do I really WANT to grow and be challenged in my relationship with Christ? Hungry people make other hungry people hungrier! Hungry people feed off of each other. If we have enthusiasm for God it will rub off on the others in our group and cause us all to want more and more of His Word.

Please don’t misinterpret any of this for any kind of perfection or Biblical knowledge level, it certainly is NOT a requirement.

What the group isn’t: It is NOT church. There will be no sermon, we will learn weekly from one another. This is NOT a life group. Life groups are meant for community, growth, and inviting others to join you. Usually there is more of a loose commitment for life groups to attend or do homework. D-group is 6-8 women who want to commit weekly to growing and making this group a priority in their lives.  When this plan is followed, those involved will participate in three dynamics that result in growth in their personal lives, as well as in the Kingdom: community, accountability, and multiplication.

If after reading the description and spending some time in prayer, you would like to consider it or if you have some questions.
